Changing Lives

In the mid-1970s, two people gave up professional careers to sail the Pacific, wanting to find meaning for their lives. Over the course of seven years, they found islands populated with incredible people, but with real needs. During their travels, they listened to the stories of the people they met and began to understand the need for additional medical care for the people of Micronesia, a conglomeration of over a thousand tiny islands east of the Philippines and south of Guam.
30 years ago, those same two people, Jamie & Jacque Spence, began a mission effort in Micronesia. Today, what is known as Canvasback Missions continues to operate a fine-tuned Christian ministry by providing free and otherwise unavailable healthcare in the Marshall Islands through surgeries and diabetic treatment programs. This is achieved through partnerships between volunteer medical professionals and island communities, along with many prayers and donations.
Every year, Canvasback will . . .
Send 5-8 specialty medical teams reaching over 2,100 people.
Reach 3,500 children, 160 mothers, and 190 teachers through educational programs.
Teach multiple intervention programs to prevent and reverse the effects of diabetes and to improve overall health.
Teach fitness classes in 14 schools, and at the Community Center in Majuro (the largest city in the Marshall Islands) reaching 4,000 people.
Operate a year-around Wellness Center in Majuro teaching lifestyle health and nutrition instruction to over 2,500 people.
This Sabbath, we will hear from Canvasback Ministry co-founder, Jacque Spence as she shares testimonies of answered prayers, miracles, and God's power at work in the mission field! You are sure to be blessed. Hope to see you at church!
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16
