Farewell Pastor John
Author: Pastor Mitch Williams
February 11, 2021
Three years ago, Pastor John became an official part of the
pastoral team at The Hill. Pastor John joined us after retiring from a
productive 40 plus year career as an ordained pastor in the Seventh-day
Adventist Church.
We have been blessed to have
Pastor John serve in the ministry capacity of member care and
visitation. Many of you have received phone calls and visitations,
whether at home or even in the hospital. Pastor John’s gentle presence
always brought comfort and peace. His love for Jesus was a wonderful
encouragement and testimony.
However, due to
financial challenges facing every church, including our own in the midst
of this pandemic, we will no longer be able to employ Pastor John as a
part-time pastor. No doubt this development comes as a disappointment
and consequence of the times in which we live.
Nevertheless,
on behalf of Pastor Miguel and myself, and the entire church family, we
want to thank Pastor John for his ministry. We also are grateful to
Evangelina for her gift of music that she shared so faithfully with our
church, along with her passion for health ministry. We know the Lord has
continued plans for this couple to be in the Lord’s service. And of
course, The Hill will always consider the Bechtels a special part of our
church family.
Because we are not able to hold
a proper “thank-you party,” would you please take a moment to mail a
card or contact Pastor John and Evangelina to express your gratitude for
their love and care to our church family. And let’s also put the
Bechtels in our prayers that the Lord will continue to bless and keep
them in His care.
