In Brotherly Love

Last Sabbath we kicked off a new sermon series entitled: My
Brother’s Keeper. We were reminded that Jesus calls us to treat other
people the same way we want to be treated – with compassion and a
helping hand.
Today there is
an epidemic of homelessness in the Golden State. How can we make a
difference, in the spirit of the Golden Rule? One way is to provide
“Homeless Kits.” A homeless kit contains toiletries, socks, gloves,
beanie and other essentials for someone who does not have proper
shelter.
This Sabbath we are
seeking to collect 150 homeless kits that will be distributed by our
high school youth later this month at People’s Park, Oakland.
Please
prepare a homeless kit that fits inside a large zip lock bag and bring
it to church this Sabbath. The homeless kit is to include the following
items:
Hair ties
Full size Bar of Soap & Wash Cloth
Nail clipper / Nail file
Moisturizing lotion (travel size)
Chapstick
Shampoo & Conditioner (travel size)
Toothpaste & Toothbrush
Disposable Razor & Shaving cream (travel size)
Warm Socks (preferably dark in color)
Gloves & Beanie type hat
Disposable rain poncho
Sanitary wipes (travel size)
Imagine
the gratitude the homeless will feel when they receive your homeless
kit as a token of your love. Thanks in advance for showing the love of
Christ with your actions.
Hope to see you this Sabbath!
“I
tell you that whenever you did these things for one of the least
important of these brothers of mine, you did them for me!” Matthew
25:40
Blessings!
