Moving Day

The time had finally come for Dave and Nina to move into their new
home. After a year of preparations, including the installation of new
water, sewer and utilities lines, it was time for their new home to be
delivered. The triple-wide prefabricated home was carefully towed to the
site and carefully placed upon the brand new concrete foundation.
Filled
with anticipation and excitement, Dave, his wife Nina, and their two
boys, Ethan and Daniel, dashed into their new home. But what they
discovered was a stench so strong they could hardly remain inside but
for a few seconds. Indeed, the home was full of mold. From the time it
was purchased on the showroom until installation it had been improperly
stored, resulting in the noxious and toxic black film all over their
walls.
The dealer who sold
them the home wanted to simply mitigate the problem. Their personal
physician had indicated such a mitigation might not fully fix the
problem and later affect the health of the family as the mold grew back.
A showdown between the buyer and seller was mounting. The Stewards
wanted a new home, the dealer wanted to mitigate the mold. To make
matters worse, the prefab home Dave had purchased had gone up $100,000
from a year ago. All indications were that this dealer would not be
workable.
For the last 30
days, Dave and I talked and prayed about the problem. Yesterday, Dave
and his family met with the owner, a man named Ray. And after a 45
minute conversation, Ray said, “I am going to build you a new home. And I
feel good about it.” The Lord had answered their prayers!!!
But
what made the transaction extra special was that during the
conversation, it was discovered that the Ray’s son was searching for a
church. Dave and Nina talked about their faith and Ray was fascinated to
learn about the Sabbath. The conversation ended with Ray wanting to
learn more about the Adventist church and how he and his son could
visit.
The Lord works in
mysterious ways. Sometimes, the Lord takes our trials to put us in front
of people we would otherwise never have a chance to witness to. May we
always be prayerful in how we face each trial in our lives, recognizing
that we are always called to be “salt” and “light” to those who may not
yet know Jesus!
