How to Help?

When you pass through water, I will
be with you; when you pass through rivers, they will not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire, you will not be scorched — the flame will
not burn you. Isaiah 43:2
This Bible
promise has been especially meaningful recently as thousands have sought
shelter while fires raged around them in Napa and Sonoma County.
Now
50% contained, the Glass Fire is the 12th most destructive wildfire in
California history. As of this morning, the Glass Fire and North Complex
West fires have destroyed hundreds of homes including 36 homes
belonging to SDA church members and NCC employees. Twenty of these
families had homes in the Deer Park area. The Adventist community is
surrounding these families and other evacuees with support as all
transition from emergency need to recovery.
Many from our church have asked, "How can we help?"
We
reached out to Jenni Hilton, who is helping with local church relief
from the Yountville SDA Church, and she shared that approximately 30
people have been staying on the church grounds. A few are even sleeping
on pews. There are RVs in the parking lot along with many pets. The Napa
Valley Retirement community across the street has been graciously
providing those folks with lunch and dinner.
When
asked how we can help or support them, she said the hot water heater
and shower are currently their greatest needs. The bathrooms at the
Yountville SDA church have been inundated and they needed to purchase a
larger hot water heater to accommodate the needs. They do not have a
shower at the church and would like to purchase a portable one.
So
any financial gift will be most appreciated. To specifically help the
Yountville SDA with the purchase of a shower and hot water heater,
donations can be sent to: Yountville SDA Church, PO Box 2819,
Yountville, CA 94599. (Note on the check that it is for “Disaster Relief
Fund”).
You can also give online to the
overall relief fund through our website or app. Click here and select
